The primary focus of the Parks and Recreation Department is to support our youth and families in El Cajon by providing safe, affordable and quality recreation programs. The Department provides comprehensive, structured recreation programs for ages one through senior adult.

We supervise five community recreation centers, one banquet/meeting facility, nine sports fields, a skate park, a dog park, outdoor pickleball courts, and a spring/summer aquatics program. Each month, tens of thousands of people utilize parks and recreation facilities and participate in organized activity. Over 100 facility use groups reserve these centers on a monthly basis for meetings and functions.

The Parks and Recreation Department promotes community involvement and partners with existing agencies to provide and coordinate leisure activities. The Department also provides staff support to the City’s Veterans Coalition, Teen Coalition, and Recreation Council.
