Single Family Residents

 

Each residence in El Cajon is provided with three carts by EDCO for:

• Trash

• Recycling (paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, all rigid plastics, and Styrofoam)

• Organic Waste (yard and organic waste)

 

Trash 

The gray trash cart is for any material that cannot be reused, donated, repurposed, recycled or composted. 

The City of El Cajon has an exclusive franchise agreement with EDCO for solid waste disposal and recycling.

Recycling

The blue recycling cart is for materials like paper, cardboard, plastics (#1 - #7), glass, metals, and Styrofoam.

Organic Waste

The organic waste cart is for all food waste, food-soiled paper, and yard waste. 

In compliance with California’s Organics Recycling Law (SB 1383), El Cajon residents are required to place food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard waste in the green cart.

Collection occurs throughout the week. Please note that some holidays may result in a one-day delay in service.
