Californians lead the way in fire prevention, but we can always do more.
The City Council made fire prevention and resiliency a priority for 2026, as outlined in the 2026 City Council Action Plan. In accordance, the El Cajon Fire Department has continued making great strides in fire prevention and resiliency, including thinning fire-prone vegetation, educating the public on fire prevention and resilience tactics, and increasing investment in emergency management capabilities.
On June 15th, the City of El Cajon held a virtual Community Wildfire Resilience town hall, where experts from Heartland Fire, the Helix Water District, and the El Cajon Police Department discussed fire prevention tactics that the City takes and tactics that you can take to be more prepared in the face of disaster.
