The City of El Cajon is launching a comprehensive land use planning effort to reimagine Parkway Plaza Mall as a vibrant, walkable, multipurpose district that reflects El Cajon's community spirit. Our vision is to redesign the mall into a place for shopping, housing, and gathering spaces, built prioritizing sustainability, walkability, and transit access.
Community malls thriving today have already reinvented themselves. Successful malls have added housing, entertainment, public spaces, and new types of businesses. The City is prioritizing Parkway Plaza and is working hand in hand with mall ownership as well as the community.
